If there are any big spots, wet some tissue with the tar remover and set it on the area. It stops the stuff running away and drying as quickly.

Kerosene will remove tar and bitumen.

Thanks all for the advice.
I tried various products on the white BMW and couldn't shift most of the tar with cleaning products.
Got bored so used the back of a wash cloth with the web material on the reverse.

Auto Glym Intensive Tar Remover works great for me use elbow grease go over lightly with it, leave 5 min then once more wipes clean on my white car.
