I was somewhat surprised to find my newly acquired 240i, (a 981 replacement), has rather skinny 7.5 x 18 front and 8 rears which only allow a 245 on the rear, (the ugly, (and Marco says) weak 436m).

My ancient 120d did at least have the 261m wheels with 7.5 x18 front and 8.5 rear. I would have thought the other way around would have been more sensible, (no doubt BMW would say everything has been optimised - but the 981 had 265 rears with 75 less bhp).

Might just dig out my stored old 261s. At least they will allow a 255 rear, (and presumably fit in the arches?).

I believe these E Series 264m have a thin spacer on the front (10mm?), as they're ET49 vs standard ET45. Suit the 2er rather nicely, and display the sexy brakes too:

Your 261m should be a similar fitment.

Thank you Marco. I didn't look up the front 261m. But aren't they:

Front Wheels: 7.5Jx18 ET47 (p/n 36117891050)
Rear Wheels: 8.5Jx18 ET52 (p/n 36117891051)

Maybe a smaller front spacer would do it?

My son still has my old 120d, but fitted with a set of 135m wheels which are 18 x 8 ET47 front,; 18 x 8.5 ET50 rear; (5mm front spacer to clear strut - just).

I had BBS CI-R 19's on my old 240i. 19x8 et 45 front and 19x9 et48 rea.
I had pilot sport 4S tyres fitted all round 225 front and 255 rear. could have got 235 and 265 on as there was enough room!

no ideally 255 on that setup, still struggling to find wheels i like with an offset suitable (et55-58) to fit 265 under the arches, been offered a set of OZ ultraleggera which would be 9j et40 on the rear, i don't think this would fit with a 255. if anyone has any suggestions of wheels that are 9j or 9.5j that will fit a m240i so i can fit 265 at the rear would be greatly appreciated

What's wrong with Apex EC7, or BBS CI-R ? Don't like the styles?

What style are you after?

hadnt looked at Apex Ec7, they are nice wheels, as regards to front fitment what offset would be required when running 8.5J? rear 9.5J Et58 got those in my basket just need confirmation on offsets for the front, thanks

Thanks
