245/45/18 - will they fit??

Post by ttassie15 » Fri Nov 09, 2018 7:10 am

Hi,
I’m after a set of winter tyres, and found some fairly cheap ones online. Will they fit on my car? Comparing them online they’re 40mm larger (diameter) than my current ones?
Cheers!

Nope, not with those tractor tyres on.

Any size you would recommend?
I was thinking 225/40/18 would be fine for the front, maybe go for the same as the front?
Or 235/40/18?

225/40/18 front

235/40/18 or 245/35/18 rear. 123d has lots of torque, I wouldn't go too narrow. Maybe consider 255/35/18 rears too, assuming you have 8.5" rears?

Yeah 8.5” rears, was just after a cheapish set to get me through the winter. I’ll have a look, cheers!

Hello, going from 17" to 18" with my summer tires, similar question - I would like to buy 3 series rims (193m - 8x18 ET34 fron, 8,5x18 ET37 rear), found ones but i'm a little concerned about the tires. Front ones are 225/40, rear ones are 255/35. My concern is related to the cars suspension - are 255 tires a little too wide an also - maybe there will be some rubbing involved? Also, how would 225/40 work on 8,5 rim?

The car is 2009 E87 120D.

Thank you

The fronts would poke and the rears would probably rub.

My current setup is 225/45/17 on 8x17 ET 34 (style 285) rims so I guess the front will be the same, my concern is the rear. Would 225/40 work on the rear with 8,5 rims? If not, what's the best measurement to go with, 235/40 ir mayb 245/35? Thank you

Yup, front would be the same, 235/40/18 95 are probably the safest choice for the back.
