Method to replace M135i wheel centre caps - advice needed

Post by MegaloV »

All four caps on my 2016 m135i are badly corroded despite only 20k miles and being kept in a well ventilated underground garage from new - not very impressive at all!

Anyway I'm guessing BMW won't help in any way so it's over to me.

When replacing the centre caps is it possible to do it with the wheels still on the car without damaging the wheels? (Fingers crossed the corrosion of the centre caps hasn't already damaged the wheels)

I've not got a jack and I've got a bad back so if it were a wheel off job I'd have to pay a tyre shop to do it for me - which I rather resent.

Suction cup. One from an old Sat-Nav works a treat.

Or a corkscrew - if they've genuinely got a date with the dustbin.

If they are bad enough to go in the bin just punch a hole through them will a screwdriver and lever them out. There’s nothing fragile behind them that you will damage.

Bluetack pushed on hard should pull them out.

Strange though, my 2015 car's ones are fine.
