225/45/17 ? Because they have the optional 17" wheels.

O right I see. yeah I have 16 wheels so only the 205s are right for it.
Just one more questions if you don't mind. The runflats mostly have a load index of 91 would that be okay since they aren't 94? Stupid question I suppose considering how much stiffer the sidewalls are.

91 is more than plenty in a Runcrap, they'll be like concrete.

Here's a proper tyre (top) vs a Runcrap (bottom):

Interesting thanks! The runflat is just a lot thicker I guess. Hmmm wish me luck in finding a good 205/R55 runflat then since XL and RunFlat may not be that different on 55s.

If you have a staggered set up, ie wider tyres at the back than the front, then the p zeros will be different. You won't get tha same tread pattern unless you go for a 225/40 R18 up front. There's nothing wrong with having a different tread pattern front and rear assuming the tyre dynamics are the same, so you p zeros all round will be fine.

The tyres at the back have a curb protector it on then and the fronts don't it's looks like I brought 2 different set but they are the same sets I don't know how to upload a picture otherwise I would put one up

Or you might have P Zero one end and P Zero Nero the other.

Both have very different tread patterns. The P Zero is an Asymmetric tyre and the P Zero Nero isn't.

EDIT:

There are also rim protection tyres that have a fatter and flatter side wall. Mine aren't rim protect as i wanted to ensure arch clearance.

Are they the same size front and rear? As the rear looks stretched. The rear wheels are 8.5 inches wide whereas the fronts are 7.5 inches wide.

So if you're using the same tyres front and rear, that's why they look different.

The only other explanation is rim protection. Rear has it, front doesn't.

Evening all,

Just read the whole thread and think I'll be okay but still after some advice or conformation if somebody in the know doesn't mind.

I've got a f20 118d with styling 382 wheels. I've not checked inside the rims but understand these to be 7.5j up front and and 8j rears.

I've got Dunlop SP sport maxx TT runflats all round, 225/45 on the front and 245/40 on the rear.

I'm looking to put 225/45 on the rear aswell. I understand there will be 20mm less tread on the road and a slight stretch compared to the 245/40 but am I being daft to even do this?

Views, comments and advice are much appreciated.

Tom

You can stretch 225/45/17's on the back if you want to. You'll end up with a little less grip and a little less rim protection, but the balance will probably be better.
