M2: Front 8 1/2Jx18 235/40R18 95V XL Rear: 9Jx18 255/35R18 94V XL
Craig

FYI m2 OE 18” winter fitment is 235/40/18 all round on 8.5” & 9” wheel sizes

BP
235 on a 9" is the minimum fitment, so that's legit :)

They're 7.5" & 8.5" so your tyre sizes are fine.

Bear in mind some OEM's go outside of this guidance...incl BMW. G30's 5 series rears run 275 on 9" wide wheels and F10 M5 run 295 rears on 10" wide wheels.

M2 with 275/295 combo on std 9"/10" alloys....photo below taken from this F87post thread http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/showth ... ?t=1465661

Yup, back in the day BMW used to run 235's as standard on my E36 M3 with 7" width wheels.

I don't pretend to know better than ETRTO though, so stick to their 'safe' guidelines when advising others.

Sorry digging up an old thread, but looking at the guide above I should be able to fit 235 tyres on the 261m 7.5 wheels on the front of my 135i.

So why does nobody seem to run 235 on a 1 series with 18"'s will they rub against the struts or arch liner?

Yes, they'd safely fit on the rims. The issue is the overall height/diameter, basically. I'm sure you understand the profile is a percentage, and not a size/fitment.

That means 235/40/18 are really big on diameter, & 235/35/18 are a bit small on diameter. (Compared to the rears). 235/40 & 255/35 are acceptably close to most people, but 235/40 & 245/35 would look like a penny farthing!
