I've got the known Rear Indicator Failure message popping up on the dash intermittently of my '17 M2. I previously had it on the rear right side and the light cluster was replaced in warranty. My car's now out of warranty by 3 months and its not popped up for the left side.
Has anyone had luck with BMW replacing it out of warranty, as goodwill maybe, considering this is a known fault?
I have the extended warranty, but my excess is £250, so I'll probably just replace it out of pocket if there's recourse with BMW.

Re: Rear Indicator Failure
It's worth asking BMW but I doubt that they'll honour a good will gesture.
Personally I'd try cleaning all the loom & bulb contacts before shelling out for a complete cluster.

Does your indicator still work? Mine works, but it is dimmer than the other side and whenever it does come on, the rest of the LED (outer) flashes as per the video below. Does yours do the same? Trying to work out whether could be a common issue with the cluster.

Last time I saw rear lights go like that. It was on my 1986 Mark 3 Escort in 1990.dxnnyk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:41 pm Similar issue!

A quick clean up of the connection of the plug and the pins and the job was a good un.

Re: Rear Indicator Failure
Mine were doing similar to yours, except every 4-5th flash would be a normal one.dxnnyk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:41 pm Similar issue!

The dealership wanted me to right off the cost of them checking & replacing the lights before going to BMW for good will. Haven't looked further into this option yet, but I did purchase a rear light off ML Performance for a pretty decent price (cheapest anywhere I could find).
Popping the light out and cleaning the connectors seems to have helped though. With the occasional drive, it hasn't come up faulty yet, so I'm contemplating returning the light itself.
