Fitting F20 Halogen Headlight

Post by silas greenback » Mon Sep 18, 2017 4:20 pm

So the misses cracked the headlight on out 1 series (we always say it was the misses, but honestly it was)

I have got a new headlight from cotsworld bmw, great service and price, thanks Phil! and attempted to fit it today, but i'm a bit lost with all of the adjusters

I was hoping to fit it basically and then get the light aligned properly, but it looks a bit of a pain as you have to remove the bumper each time you need to adjust the light by the look of it.

Does any one have a guide or service manual on basic setup

The light has two screw adjusters on the bottom of the unit

and fitted to the car it looks like this

Lights are Halogen BTW

does any one know a start position?

Can't you set it up exactly the same as the one that came off?

Or take the drivers' side out and see how that's set?

Shouldn't need to remove it to adjust the beam aim, there are a couple of white plastic adjustment screws (might be 7 or 8mm allen key?) accessible from the top via holes through the slam panel.

Hi, thanks for replying

The one that came off lost its settings when removing the screws on the underside

I think the adjustment screws on the underside, top left and single boit right are just for making the Headlight fit the body, the actual alignment is internal to the lamp

Thanks
