HID's for prefacelift - issues

Post by christian94 » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:10 pm

Before any of you guys slate me for having a HID kit for starters, I've got DEPO V2's with Morimoto Projectors retrofitted, so it's not going to glare people. I know I technically need self levelling and washers, but the topic of HID's is still a grey area.

Anyway, has anyone had problems with fitting HID kits onto a pre-facelift 1er? I have a e87 2005 sport and I've tested the Terminator HID kit 6k on my depo's - it throws up errors and also, the dipped beams turn on for 10 seconds then turn off, and doesn't work.

Are there alternatives? Don't fancy using the yellow-ey halogen bulbs because I want a nice white/blue xenon look. Has anyone got hid's to work on their pre facelifts?? The Morimoto projectors are a H1 fitment by the way

Edit: using error cancellers as well

Thanks

I don't have any experiences with pre-fl mate, but try HID Direct. They're usually quite helpful with these kinda issues :)

Yep as above try hid direct excellent company to deal with, just fitted there premium ballasts to my own car without any issues but appreciatte yours is pre fl. one or two on here have experienced problems with the terminator kit showing errors. I know you say you are using a warning eliminator without any joy but do know there are loads off warning eliminators available some better than others is yours the simple plastic box version ? I fear with the one series you may need the better ones available that are obviously a bit more expensive, will see if I can find the link to the better one available.

May be worth a try ? Says not compatible but personally would give them a try.

The pre facelift can be problematic when running a hid kit apparently.
The terminator is usually one of the better kits tbh for not showing errors.
