H7 Replacing standard lights (road legal)

Post by bashmore » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:33 pm

Do these seem like sensible choices? Philips V OSRAM? Anything better to consider?

Dipped:

OSRAM Cool Blue Intense

Full:

OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited +110%

or

Philips X-treme Vision +130%

Few members on here (me included) use MTEC bulbs from HIDS-DIRECT.

Yeah I was looking at the MTEC H7 12v 55w Cosmos Blue Xenon Effect until I realised they aren't road legal. Also a lot of poor reviews about them not being that blue.

The MTEC H7 12v 55w SUPER WHITE are e-marked but looks like the Philips/OSRAM seems to be the favoured over them.

Reading comments around various car forums have now put me off the 'OSRAM Cool Blue Intense'. It seems basically upgrade to Xenon if you really want that blue light, otherwise its a faint blue tint at best and loss of visibility.

So I think either the:

£39.98 = 4 x Philips X-treme Vision +130% http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-12972XV ... 00NMEEV9W/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
£23.18 = 4 x OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited +110% http://www.amazon.co.uk/BREAKER-UNLIMIT ... 00EPLCPRG/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

both are with free ship atm on Amazon. :o

I've just ordered the Philips Xtreme 130's from Amazon to try. £20 delivered so worth a punt.

Reminds me I must get the Xenon conversion done :)

Just noticed that powerbulbs have a decent offer if anyone is after H11 fogs.

+ Free delivery

= £20.27 :o http://i.imgur.com/R0xPpHn.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I use the Philips extreme vision 130 from 12 months ago which were significantly brighter than my standard bulbs.

Not a good comparison but below is my default halogen with default bulbs

Image

Depo with Philips Extreme Vision 130 (the depo was shocking with the default bulb I may as well have put a candle in the lamp)
Image

Though depo is crap compared to xenon I do like the spread of light compared to the default lamps

That's not a good comparison tbh :/. Comparing halogens to projectors is a bit pointless IMO if you're showing off the bulbs. The projector will falsify how much better it actually is.
