OBD mandatory for JB4?

Post by rydale13 » Sat Jan 13, 2018 8:16 pm

Hi guys,

I'm toying the with the idea of purchasing a JB4 for my M135i and bolt info on the Bluetooth module also.

As I understand it, the Bluetooth module will allow me to switch maps via an app.

What I now want to understand is whether the hook up to the OBD port is necessary with the Bluetooth module?

I understand I won't be able to change maps using the dash, but will the JB4 ultimately still work?

Thanks in advance.

If I recall you can only use map1 if you do not connect up the odb2 cable on the N55

They did make a firmware change for B58 JB4 where you can use the standard maps 1,2 & 3 if I recall but not sure if tgis was done for the F55 M135 JB4

Correct - maps 0 & 1 only for n55 with no canbus hooked up via OBD port. No data logging capability either nor monitoring via JB4 app meaning extra spend on BT JB4 connect is a waste of money. You can change maps wo using app

I think you can now get a OBD flash tune done, this might be the better option for you.
