M140i intake

Post by Kyleralph078 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 10:38 am

There are two intakes i have found available for the b58 just wondering if anyone has got them and what they would suggest is best, theres the AP kit which includes a cnc intake pike or the other is just a cone filter which sits in the bottom half of the original intake box

Any opinions are appreciated

Thanks in advance
Kyle

4 choices

1. remove blanking plate behind LH grill - helps airflow into OEM inlet tract - FoC !!!

2. oem airbox c/w aftermarket drop-in filter - discrete/cheapest - K&N/AFE/BMC
3. aftermarket open intake - BMS/AP/Eventuri - cost can vary depending on supplier - likely to be most "dramatic" in terms of sound

4. aftermarket closed intake - Dinan [TBC]; AFE Momentum

M140i intake

I'm not a fan of the aftermarket open intake, as while you may get some cold air via the lower OE intake, the fact that the top of the air box is open allows hot air from the engine bay to be ingested. IMO, the best bet is either a drop-in air filter as per BP's option 2 above or a complete aftermarket closed intake system like Dinan or aFe (option 4 above).
