Remap & Exhaust (Back Box)

Post by jonners » Fri Jun 23, 2017 9:06 pm

Hi

Previously I had a remap done back in October 2016 and just recently had a new Back Box fitted earlier this month.

The Centre Silencer is still in place, as well as the DPF.

If the Back Box was fitted after the remap, will I require a new remap?

To be honest the car feels slightly faster than before. Not totally sure if this is an undue surge, but things seem quite transformed, maybe more boost? Ability to burn rubber of the tyres between gear changes (not full on wheel spin, just like grating against the Tarmac), even the rear end is somewhat more lively with DSC and TC enabled. And I feel a bit more pinned back in to the seat during acceleration.

Now I know we have had really warm Weather, but if I do give it some grief over a short period of time, the Firewall down near the Pedals does feel somewhat warmer than usual. I haven't heard the Radiator Fan spinning any faster than normal however.

I don't want this to be boost creep, surely this is bad for the Engine?

Car is a 118D E82 and the Back Box fitted was made by Ulter.

Any information?

Thanks

Removing the back exhaust box will not require another remap
Some remap companies will tell you it needs a remapped again so they can get more money out of you

I plan to leave the CAT/DPF intact, will removing the middle silencer for a straight pipe affect the performance? I was told today it can affect the behaviour of the car, but was not told if it would be a negative or positive? Again would I require the remap adjusting for this? I'd imagine it would be louder? But how much?

Thanks

I've had the mid box removed for a straight pipe, along with my Ulter straight through back box, there is absolutely no change to the sound whatsoever. It sounds exactly the same as it did by having a Ulter back box and mid silencer in place.

Maybe I am trying to justify the £50 spent, but there feels to be a slight improvement in throttle response and pickup in acceleration...

Meh I just dunno....

How’s the utter sound over stock?

Certainly better than stock, there's more of a pronounced raspy sound in the mid range I'd say. If that's to your taste/liking.
