Any update?
Firmware, softbare, modifications or improvement apks?

The BMW F20/F21 Android 10.25 retro-fit unit seems to have lost both interest and user updates on BMW addicts, Bimmerpost and babybmw sites?

Any updates, news or improvements would be very welcome .

Many thanks
Mike
Tomorrow I'll get the car from the workshop with the screen and camera fitted.
Where we can check if there's an update?

Hi,
You could try Carly or Rock who are very supportive for the Android 10.25 F20 units.

Carly's email address is: emily@carlife-mall.net
Rock's email address is: sales@carlife-mail.net or info@carlife.

Another supporting provider of the unit is AvinUSA: support@avinusa.com
Avin seems to be on top of updates and support.

Hope this helps?
if you get and information or an update, please let me know.

Hopefully, other members will offer their support to this thread?

Many thanks
Mike

Thank you Mike for the fast reply and the contact information.
I guess I can contact these guys although I have purchased the screen from eBay and not from them?
I hope tomorrow will have some free time to learn the new Android screen.
Will come back to post the feedback.

Hi,

Thanks,

Any information required on installing / setting up the GPS antenna or rear / front cameras just ask.

I have been there and done it.

Only let down is at present, still not upgradable to a later android firmware???

Best GPS software is Sygic which has heads up for simplicity.

Mike

Great Mike, I have bought Sygic many years now with the European countries.
All I need is system info to pass to the guys to see if there's an update.
A later Android version would be fabulous, although I have my concerns because of the hardware limitation.
CPU and mostly ram (because of the 1gb).

Hello,

I have a problem connecting the rear view camera with the Android screen 10.25'' for my BMW F20 2015.
When we put the reverse gear the screen don't change to camera view, it just stays to Android menu.
The camera is connected ok because we tested it with another screen and we had clear view.
In my screen it doesn't trigger the canbus so the screen to change to camera view when we put reverse.
Maybe we have to choose an option on the menu? Already have checked in the menu my previous 6.5 inches stock BMW screen.
Maybe we have to update the screen?
I'm attaching some pictures for your reference.

Best regards,
Vasileios

So the original reverse screen doesn't come up? It should by default I'm guessing. There is an option to change the camera. I believe its in the android settings? I will report back when I get into my car, unless someone explains it to you by then.

Hold down the menu button you should be able to move between default (BMW Screen & Android Screen. I made this mistake and couldn't get back to the BMW screen because I over looked a connection. From memory the cable that plugs in the BMW screen needs to be connected to the new screen.

The car didn't had rear view camera from the factory.
I bought an eBay camera and fitted it with the Android screen.
With the valuable help of the guys at AVINUSA that sent me a pdf with instructions how to connect the camera to the screen finally got it working.
Although, both AVINUSA and carlife-mall can't support me with the updates because I haven't bought the screen from them.
Now I need to find a solution for the updates...
Also, take in mind the camera connection and the settings are different for manual cars from automatic.

Hi guys thinking of buying this but a few questions

Is this unit and the Avin isn’t the exact same?

I have no com box / and standard cic no nav on my bmw f20 2013 plate - so would the sound work or would I need the new unit to have a aux out to connect to my I drive as I heard only for nbt systems it works without needing to be connected to aux

Would the rear parking distance control come on automatically when in android mode?

Has anyone who ordered from AvinUSA and had it shipped to the U.K. encoutered any import fees, as I have bought things abroad and had to pay hefty fees. Also what is the delivery time frame when shipped to the UK.

Yup, all units 10.25'' are the same. Also, now all sellers are selling the 2nd generation.
Yes, the park assist works great on Android too.

Yes, all items coming outside E.U. have to stay in customs and pay fees.

Update:

All of us that we haven't bought the unit from AVINUSA, there's a subscription for 40$ indefinitely for software support.
I did it, and I have to say these guys are the most supportive out there, although bought my unit from eBay and the communication with the Chinese is PITA.
Also, AVIN guys informed me that a new software update will be available next week.

Question: Has anybody updated now the iDrive controller with a new one that has all the buttons (for navi, audio, etc.) and touch function? Does everything work fine?

So even though you didn't get the unit from them they will offer software support for the 40 dollars. How do you go about this and what updates are being made, thanks.

£28 pounds for a software update seems pretty pricey to me.
