Are my washers heated?

Post by aneng » Tue Dec 12, 2017 10:14 am

Hi.

Just trying to unfreeze the windscreen washers on my 2015 F20 and I've noticed the nozzles have electrical connections as well as the water pipe.

Does this mean my nozzles are heated - or just that the harness is a standard part and fitted to all models but not enabled in the system of lower-spec models (like mine!)?

Any ideas folks?

Thanks.

The jets themselves will be heated, but not all the hoses.

Hopefully you filled the system with a nice strong winter mix a couple of months ago? Takes a while for the solution to work it's way through, especially to the rear.

The spec level of mine is the absolute lowest... You know when you read through the manual and get all excited because you think a feature is on your car then get all disappointed when you realise it isn't? I did a lot of that.

Put it this way, I was thrilled to discover it has the same number of wheels as the fully loaded models.

As for filling up with strong winter fluid in the summer... It's a company car, I do about 1,000 miles a week, they won't pay for gallons of winter wash when it's not winter!

I just fill mine with a 1:2 dilution which is still good down to -6 ish IRC. It was -3.5C driving in today and wasn't an issue at all.
