F20/21 116i Remap General Questions

Post by chinskee » Wed Jan 03, 2018 3:48 pm

Hello all, Since OBD remapping is now a thing, I'm looking at booking my 116i in for a map. I have seen gains of around 200bhp+ from many reputable dealers. Just for reassurance wondering if anyone knows any long term effects that could be a downside to this?? I have hear from many that the engine is capable of achieving these figures but just wondering about things like the clutch or oil temps?

I'm not going to be thrashing the car about, just like having the extra power when needed. The car is currently on 47k miles, so fairly young. Thank you all :)

Any reputable tuner will have considered all of the transmission and engine capabilities and will provide a safe tune for longevity.

Hello, it’s a dealer that provides maps from a well know provider called ‘elite remaps’. So hoping is all well

Hello, had my car remapped yesterday, power seems great but I keep hitting 'flat spots' where the engine doesn't seem to know what to do i guess??? :S
It feels like when you lose traction and it gets a bit jumpy. Any reasons for this guys? was thinking something along the lines of my engine not getting enough cool air with the stock air filter or something to do with a boost leak??
I'm not getting any errors on the car at all, and the diagnostics tool didn't pick anything up either :s
Cheers guys

Gfb dv+ might be your answer dude. Stock one can't handle the extra boost

Just because a company is well known, doesn't mean they are good at what they do. Now this is just my opinion, but I'd be questioning the quality of the remap.
Estoril Blue F20 120d XDrive (01/2016), BLK "Dakota" Heated, Alum. brushed, black hi-gloss, PDC Front & Rear, Driver CP, Interior CP, Sun protection pack, LED Headlights, Flappy Paddles, Connected Drive. Hopefully a few Retrofits to come.

Hello yes it was a flash remap, wasn't RR'd. I think it could be to do with the turbo and the boost pressure as it seems to be when the turbo kicks in. No faults so might have a look into upgrading the DV like above if not taking it back to be removed!
Cheers guys
