2mm? Maybe for the downwards alignment might fix it, although the screw hole top right is in a sh*te place. In the middle and you’d have some wiggle room.

But what about the other 15mm it needs to be centre?

Minimum smart repair to both holes such that the repair cannot be detected. Then a new number plate, preferably stuck on rather than with screws. I cannot see them agreeing to a new bumper - not sure I would trust them to fit it properly or match the paint anyway.

A couple of years ago we bought a brand new Peugeot ( I know, was for the wife) and I went to change the plates as we were transferring her private reg onto it. The twats who pdi'd the car had only gone and self-tapper screwed the plates into the bootlid! To make it worse there were actually two pre made holes for the plates to be fixed into but they decided in their wisdom that puncturing the metal bootlid was the way forward.

The best of it was when I went to the dealer to get it sorted, every car on the forecourt was the exact same!!

Anyway, I had them replace the bootlid, there was no way they were repairing a new car...

Just pop into the dealer and ask them to sort it, and see what they do.

A pet hate of mine and that is rather poor the way that plate was put on!

Perhaps some of these specialist custom number plate suppliers can do a plate that is marginally wider than standard and then just stick it on which will cover the holes which are mis-aligned (especially the right one as you look at the image)

Wow. Now that I’ve just seen this, my number plate is also misaligned just like in your picture! Once you notice it, it’ll bug you forever! Will get onto the phone to my dealers too!

Sorry to have brought this to your attention, you're right though...once you notice it, it can't be unseen! I went 2 whole weeks!

Keep me updated with how you get on and how this is resolved by your dealer.

Thanks,
No need to apologise pal. Glad we can share such information on these forums to help one another.

Will report back once I have had a moment to contact the dealers

Cheers

Do the dealers just do this by eye when the car arrives then?

There's nothing from factory to indicate plate position?

They do it by eye but tbh how hard can it be. There's enough reference points on the bumper to ensure it's centre and level.

My local dealer say they have a jig for each model of car so the holes are always drilled in the right place. Not sure how that translates to the bumper if there are no pre-drilled holes though.

You’d like to think that dealers have some sort of accurate method and it’s not just down to the eye of the technician fitting the plates!!

What about the rear? Are there pre-drilled holes from the factory?

You would have thought so! Yep, I noticed the back plates aren’t any better, central but not level.

As far as I’m aware the front bumper comes smooth with no holes, they drill new holes into the bumper as fixing points.

No idea how they could mess this up so badly.

I'm also amazed that the chose to locate the mounting screws in the top corners. I'm more used to seeing them on a centred horizontally and about 25% in from each edge. if they'd done that, at least there would be scope to reposition without revealing holes.
