Thanks Marco but minimum order 10 pieces!! I’ll give my local a call tomorrow. I think you can find loads of ‘generic’ o rings on eBay is it worth it ?

No, a generic o ring isn't likely to be the right grade of rubber, I'd want the correct one for the sake of £2.

I'm sure your local parts dept will be able to help.

Hello Marco, i found the bolt that needs removing to get the pipes out is a 'ASA bolt' Ive heard its a female torx that does the job. You had much experience with these? I saw on the NL forums it was size 8 as well... so im guessing this will do the job. worst comes to worse im sure the people at Halfrauds could point me to the socket.

I would (I did) buy a full rail of E Sockets, the car is covered with them in various sizes.

Mine came from Machine Mart, iirc. Could have been screwfix....

From experience, these ASA bolts can be a nightmare to remove when they are used on or close to a turbo. Make sure you get a good quality socket and a good tip is to use something like Halfords Shock and Unlock on the bolt first. It is also easy to shear the head from the bolt because of the amount of torque you can apply to this type of fastener. Might be worth getting a new bolt before starting the job.

Managed to change the o rings... despite coolant erupting everywhere! All changed and time will tell of this has stopped the coolant leak!

This is what they looked liked

First time I’ve seen this fault on the forum. Wonder if it was a bad batch of O ring seals.

They look in a bad way.

Make sure you refill with the correct G48 coolant, Halfords stock it, it's not dear.

They was in a bad way, very brittle and snapped with no force whatsoever.
Filled up the coolant with the G48 stuff and a day later doesn't appear to be any leaks etc.
Just need to clean the old gunk off when i get time and the turbo isn't boiling!
