N13B16A destruction

After abusing the car for a year and half, 9 months with mods and over 20 trackdays here is what happend to my engine and turbo was ruined wastegate and metal all in turbine

63 plate 116i stage 2 remap, milltek large bore downpipe, high flow sports cat, non resonated catback, GFB DV+, piper cross airfilter,M135i Brake kit, Michelin pilot super sport x4, M4 LCA And 2017 ECU.

So what let go first?

And whats that object in the cylinder of the 1st pic?

Looks like the gudgeon pin still through the con rod, but with a missing piston.

I think timing chain went and just ate everything in its path and yeah I think it’s gudgeon pin aswell

Yes spectacularly and it’s also the turbo cylinder so more £ but in mechanics opinion turbo was already broken as waste gate was very loose

Good grief, yeah i see it now - helps to look on a larger screen!!

So maybe bad knock caused a shock through the piston and it snapped around the pin? The skirt exited through the block whereas the crown mangled the head...?

Is there any signs of cracks on the Pistion?
Is the big end still connected and bearing in a good condition?
Did you notice and pinking or detonation ?
What was your AFRs like?
If your car was remapped did they adjust the fuelling to suit as these can run weak and need to be checked on the dyno
