116d remap - different results

Post by Kierownik » Sat Jul 21, 2018 7:47 pm

I've been thinking about remapping my lady since I got her.
What I can't understand is why some websites show Stage 1 remap 141bhp and some 185bhp. Still stage 1 but different results.
Obviously I'd love to go for more power and more torque. Just how safe is it for the gearbox, diff and other components?
I don't drive fast on day to day basis but sometimes it just lacks power when I put my foot down.

Anyone had his car remapped? I'd like to know what your results are. Thanks

Older 116d's were 2L engines and could be mapped more ( The higher figure you were given)

Newer 116's are 1.5 engines and have poorer remapping ability (The lower figure you were given)

The older 116d ED is also restricted in terms of remapping

There's a lot of talk about remapping 116d's on the internet, yet only a few examples of actual results and not many long term reviews.

I think your best bet would be to contact a reputable tuner, and ask them. bwchiptune is generally mentioned a lot of forums.

Mine is a 2L one. It's just different tuners give different quotes and different final results, that makes me a bit confused.
That's why I'd like someone who had his car remapped to share his experience with me.

I have a 2009 E87 116d, that i have owned since 2012, in 2013 after the warranty had ran out i had it remapped by ecotune at approx 35000 miles upto 200 bhp from the standard 114 bhp and the difference was a much more usuable car for me

The car is now on 120000 miles and on my daily commute still shows 56.5 mpg average but still has the poke when i need it

Always changed the oil inbetween the recommended intervals and had no major issues with the car, my daily run is A roads and a 10 mile motorway run and is the perfect car for it

As long as you choose a reputable tuner you shouldn’t have any issues

Ok, so far the best one I've found is from company called Avon Tuning.
A stage 1 remap would cost £349 including VAT and results would be 190bhp and 400Nm. That is a big gain in power and torque. I'd be more than happy with it.
What do you think guys?
