Re: M140i stolen in 30 seconds
Shouldn't take that long to nick a car with Comfort Access, they're probably amateurs. Should have fitted a steering wheel lock or driveway post.
You can nick most modern Ford Fiesta's in 5 seconds!

Good shout, thanks for the link.

Np! Don't forget to put your spare key in one, or take the fob battery out!

I got some of these bought for Christmas but haven’t used them yet. Are they only for when you have a vehicle with Comfort Access ? Or does the key fob still give off a signal that thieves can pick up ? Neither of our BMW’s have CA. Just wondering if it’s worth using them

I cannot ever, ever imagine why Criminal Access is possibly considered a good thing in Burglar Britain. I assume that if you were unfortunate enough to find a car you liked that had it as an option, you could permanently disable it and change the key for a non-Comfort version?

Re: M140i stolen in 30 seconds

And now the anti snap lock barrels don’t deter the scum. They use blowtorches to melt the door frames to gain entry.
DEFECTED TO SKODA.
Re: M140i stolen in 30 seconds
I saw a photo recently that someone posted of their door after a break in. The lock was missing and there were scorch marks on the door itself, I did wonder at the time why it had been burnt and now I know.
Re: M140i stolen in 30 seconds
At the end of the day it won't make a difference. You can fit all the locks and protections and technology in the world, but if a thief wants your car he'll simply threaten to acid you or stab you up when you're standing next to it. With little or no probability of punishment, let alone capture (people who insult each other on social media being far more deserving of attention!), why would he bother trying to unpick all that when he can threaten to destroy the owner instead?
He even gets the keys!

I suspect some idiot has used the wrong part in the faraday pouch!!! My pouch has a front part and back, only the back compartment blocks the signal.dailydoggy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 9:23 pmthere is some cases of cars still nicked wiv keys in a faraday pouch, was one in the papers last week...

Re: M140i stolen in 30 seconds
I wouldn't totally agree as only a very small proportion of car thefts are committed using or threatening to use violence, most are via break ins.Octavius wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:05 amNo arguing with that.Pubbie wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 8:04 amAt the end of the day it won't make a difference. Having adequate security is a deterrent, but I agree if they want it ultimately they will try their best to get it regardless of decent security or not and I also agree with the lack of a worthy punishment for those who are caught.
