The Grills on the latest G series BMs look shocking. Getting far too big and ugly

They are not even real grills they are fake bits of blank plastic trying to look like grills stuck on the bonnet...

in some angles, like side or rear, looks like its tryign to ape a Lexus

otherwise, i think it looks pretty good. certainly better than the F80 IMO

I'm not sure about the dimensions but it looks like a 5 series. Manufacturers still appear to be in this cycle of every new generation being bigger than the last which is not ideal for UK roads, parking spaces etc which is frustrating.

I'm at the limit with my S4 with regard to its size so I expect i will be forced to downsize with my next purchase as I do not want/need a bigger car and its frustrating enough finding spaces i am happy parking in already.

Without the option of a 2 Series saloon I'll have to look elsewhere again which is a shame.
Now - 2017 Audi S4 Black Edition

Then - M235i, M135i, 120d M Sport Coupe, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Celica T Sport 190, VW Golf GTi Mk4, Saxo VTR

I’ve never understood why they do this, by the time you know it family hatchback will be medium saloon size. Most cars we have now are perfect for our roads, so why do they keep doing this?

I read articles about more space etc but why not just get the next model up in the range.

Personally I think it looks pretty good, and the interior especially is a big improvement. IMO BMW's tend to grow on you after a while. I wasn't sure about the new X5 when I first saw it, but now I think it looks great.

It’s getting too big.

You could buy a smaller car, but the new 1 is fwd transverse sh*te, and they have no upgrade leather options etc and feel cheap inside.

The current 1 is just bearable for a premium car imo.

So while 15 years ago you could buy a 6 pot NA E46 with extended leathers etc, in a few years an equivalent size 1er will be a right bag of sh*te.

Go sit in an E46 M3 and feel the quality for such a sized car.
Even ignoring the nappa leather, the switchgear and detailing are amazing and common to cooking models.

All this said, BMW can still make luxury cars. The 7 is wonderful... just a shame it’s literally too big for any kind of normal road.
