If you’re into this there’s a good vid on YouTube, search David Gilmore Pompeii 2016. Stunning video, venue and sound.
Agreed, watched it dozens of times, and all the other Comfortably Numb videos. As for first album I bought - haven't a clue really. It was early 90's before I started buying them, if I was to guess it would be U2 - Achtung Baby.

Those were the day's
I was genuinely sad when Woolworths went bust. I had one in my local high st, though I admit i rarely used it except for if was looking for homeware's when I would always have a look to see what they had. But it was such a part of my childhood when in primary and early secondary school. A real shame when long standing British companies like that fail.

THAT was Wooly's problem
No-one went there for a "main" shop, they tried to be all things to everyone, so most purchase were ad hoc knick-knacks, or from the sweets counter that was always the first counter you saw as you entered their doorway - not exactly high ticket item :D

The irony is that the Woolworths on my high st was replaced by a pound shop (can't even remember which one it is), who sell much of the same as Woolworths did, but more sh*te on top, and of course everything is cheap.

Yes I see the irony, guess they must have lower costs and manage it better

Same. I still remember the smell of the pick'n'mix when you went in. No idea why unless it was just high turnover freshness compared to other shops but it was the best pick'n'mix going. Favourite childhood shop was Beatties though, don't think I ever bought anything. But you could play with all the latest stuff in the shop, paradise.(probably why they went bust)
It is a shame, but like a lot of British companies that have gone under I feel they didn't change with the times enough so they get left behind.
