I think your spec is fine. Living out of any cities I use my cruise every day. Front parking sensors may save your bumper from an expense comparable to the rfl as they also pick up kerbs that would catch it.

I am 'downgrading' in someways from my 2017 Golf GTI with radar cruise control, so wanted to still have cruise control, if anything I regret not forking out for the adaptive cruise control as I think i'll miss it as it worked so well on the Golf.

Didn't think you could get adaptive on these?

The cruise control with brake function is a pointless option imo. If it was adaptive cruise, it'd be worth the expense.

The roads are too busy to seek any benefit from bog std cruise that BMW fit to their cars. Set it at a speed and you'll either be braking or accelerating when you catch up slower moving vehicles on the road in front.

I'd never spec it again that's for sure.
I presume you don’t have cruise control? I would not buy a car without it. I use it all the time.

Horses for courses mate. I've had all flavours of it and can't stand it, more trouble than its worth to use. Its a very subjective feature.

And the problem with the Golf was what exactly? Yes it's not an 'R' but still seems strange to be changing after so little time in the saddle. Just curious that's all as I ordered an 'R' which I cancelled as I just got cold feet not having a BMW (been a bit of a habit for me...)

No need, that is a dealer fit option, fitted after PDI, so not part of P11D calculations Image

Adaptive does make cruise control genuinely useful. Never really used it before then, thought it was useless.

No problem with the Golf as such, I had a decent spec MK7.5 GTI Performance model.

I got a good deal on it at the time and it didn't really cost me to get rid so I took the opportunity to upgrade and ordered the M240i. Golf GTI is a very capable car, the chassis and limited slip diff fitted to the performance models really is excellent, its very good on the road in almost all circumstances but it left me wanting more performance wise and often felt underpowered. I've driven GTI/Clubsport/R etc and they are all great cars but I have had numerous VW's and had always wanted an M and I fear 'proper' M cars may not be around for much longer.

Yeah. Got cruise with brake function on our BMW and adaptive cruise on my company Seat Leon which is great and I use it all the time whereas the cruise on the BMW never gets used.
