How much is my car worth?

Post by Peter9588 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:01 pm

Hi all,

I think a change of family circumstances will force a change of car before the year is out.

How much would my car be worth via private sale?

2014 M135i, pre LCI
~34k miles
3 previous owners
5 door
Mineral Grey
Full BMWSH
Automatic gearbox
Pro Nav
Cruise Control
Front and Rear Parking Sensors
Sunroof
Adaptive Headlights
Heated Seats
Electric Memory Seats
Enhanced Bluetooth
Harmon Kardon
Electric Folding Mirrors

Exterior wise;
- the alloys are completely clean
- no damage or dents anywhere on the car
- exhaust tips are not in great condition, i've battled with these since owning the car

Would really appreciate any sort of ball park figure which I should be looking for.

Thanks,
Peter

Autotrader will give you a fairly accurate idea of what you can expect. I negotiated my last trade in on the basis of the Autotrader figure and the main dealership salesman took this as a reasonable starting point.

I just sold mine through Tootle for £12k. It was a one owner 2013 car, 5 door, FBMWSH, everything apart from the sunroof and folding mirrors. 72k on the clock.

Tootle is a little bit like eBay but for car traders only. They bid on your car over a week, I had lots of offers around that mark. It was refreshingly simple and totally pain/hassle free. Chap popped round, checked it was as described, wire transferred the money, took it away. Very impressed - a friend of mine sold his Porsche and recommended it - and now I am too.

Thanks, plenty of bids around that price - I think the FBMWSH / one-owner combination helps too. Also had new tyres all round and recently serviced.

Indeed. That puts my September '15 one owner, 19k mile LCI well above £15 which is pleasing.

Got to be worth at least £14k. On AT a lot of 13 plates with north of 50k are still going for around the £13.5-14k mark..

I agree with Rick, I bought mine for 12.2k with 70k on the clock and a few less extras than yours. I reckon its worth 14.5k upwards easily going from AT listings, but at the end of the day its finding a buyer for that price.
