Picked car back up this morning and have just stuck 200 miles of mixed driving on the MPS4.

Initial thoughts - certainly a tad quieter than the MPSS. The tyre guys comically put a right mixed bag of pressure in them - one front had 28psi with the other 41psi! I checked them before even getting in the car so adjusted correctly.

A lot of wind on the way up to The Lakes with motorway miles for the first 150 miles... not sure if I can detect a wee bit of squirm from the front tyres but they are certainly grippy in zero temps and even when pushed they didn’t really spin up the same as the MPSS tyres did.

Now they are ‘broken in’ weather permitting I’ll push on a bit tomorrow (now in the hotel bar) and will report back when home tomorrow evening.

Last note: the felt like branding print on the tyre wall is a very nice subtle touch.

If you're like me, and you like data and statistics, rather than a "this tyre grips like...." or "this is the best tyre I've ever owned" statements.

Read Evo 2018 tyre review, whilst it doesn't compare the MPS4 to the MPSS it does compare it to a host of other UHP tyres. It came 1st or 2nd in every category and scored 98.1 out of a maximum of 100 points. Most significantly (from a safety perspective) it was the best stopping tyre in the wet (1m ahead of next competitor) and 2nd best in the dry (0.1cm behind next competitor)

The full review is here - http://www.evo.co.uk/volkswagen/golf-gt ... -tyre-test

So, I can't give any subjective feedback on how well it feels or the fact it's a billion times better than the MPSS, there is data out there to prove it's one of the best tyres out there at the moment for road use.

Order placed today. Despite 3-4mm tread I figured that 30k miles was enough from one set and its time to change. Four Ps4's delivered for just over £400 - not bad!

Black circles. They were about a tenner cheaper than Camskill after delivery as there's a £40 off deal at the moment.
