M240 side blades vs vinyls

Post by motorsportbeng » Fri May 18, 2018 11:40 am

Hi all,

I'm getting myself a little confused I think for the M Performance add-ons to the side skirts for my M240.

The chap at Cotswold said both a vinyl sticker and a physical add on are available for the side skirts of the M240.

I assume you can run one or the other?
Does the add on only make it wider in terms of width or does it also effectively lower the side skirts too?

Any pics of either will be much appreciated!

You can fit one, or other, or both.

The vinyl stickers are often called 'foils'.

The blades are a separate strip you screw on to the bottom of your sills, making the car both very slightly wider and very slightly lower.

Thanks Marco, is this image of the vinyl 'foil' or the blades?

The photo looks like it has colour coded blades fitted. Some owner stay with black to match the foils

Both, the black stripe with M Performance written on it is the ‘foil’. The white stripe along the bottom is the ‘blade’

I'd never considered these but they do look rather good, especially on EB:-

I think that doing the foils(decals)only makes the car look like it is sitting high, you can do the blades on their own but don’t do the foils without the blades, but that’s only in my opininion of course😁

For the blades try maxton, theirs are more aggressive looking than the m performance ones and you can get them in different finishes too

I've just ordered both for my wife's M240i . . . Here's the same thing fitted to my M4 Comp Pack.

Hi,

I have both foils and blades on my M240 and they look amazing the only down side is when I first got them (Friday) I realised I have to step out further when exiting as its easy to catch your heel on the blade lol!

Yes, catch your ankle bone on the blade and you'll know it.
