Driveline warranty: worth it?

Post by Superlevure » Sun Sep 23, 2018 9:58 am

Hi, I was toying with the idea of getting the driveline warranty instead of the comprehensive, as it's mostly the gearboix, engine and turbo that worry me.

One major caveat though: claims are limited to £5000! How could this even cover a gearbox failure?

Does that mean I would have to pay the balance of what exceeds £5000?

Sounds useless.

Is that £5k on components, or does that figure have to cover the labour bill too?

A new steering rack typically results in a £2,600 invoice, hate to think what a big job costs people.

I have no idea if the £5000 limit includes labour. It's already bad enough for parts: the gearbox alone is £8000.

I would stick with comprehensive. With most cars its seems that electrical is more problematic than mechanical. You don't want to have what you think is a driveline problem only to find its an expensive box of tricks that you are going to have to pay for.

It says claims up to 5,000. So includes labour. It seems to me pointless compared to the comprehensive.

Also if you take your car on track the warranty is gone.
