Comparison has been done to death. If you search on here you will find lots of threads. To save you some time - "Not a lot"! Both do the same job, both work really well. There are finer arguments like MP version 'might' be better for track and Quaife better for road. But lots argue the opposite. I read a lot of posts and concluded that the differences were so small as to not be worth bothering about. I would have been happy with either and chose on cost.

I should add - otherwise I will be roasted - they are very different from an engineering perspective. My "not a lot" of difference refers to how they work in practice.

I would like to put one on my m240 xdrive.
Comming from audi with the sport differential. That was a super system. The more you accelerate in corners, the more grip you got. And also very good in snow.
I would like to get the same feeling back.

That would be due to the LSD in the front. Can you get a front LSD for the xDrive system?

It is? Fair enough. The description you gave sounded very much like the effect of adding a front LSD to a four wheel drive/front wheel drive car insofar as when you apply power, your line tightens rather than widens(understeer). That's certainly been my experience of adding a front LSD to a car.

Does it also depend how the centre diff works? In my Impreza (which had front and rear LSD) the centre diff did some clever stuff based on throttle position, yaw rate etc. That also had the feeling that as you accelerated harder it moved from understeer to oversteer, but I always put that down to the centre diff doing stuff.

Nooooooo :o :D :D :D

Just squatted and went rather than getting that small twitch and hesitation as the nannies did their thing.

That's exactly why its so good - no hesitation now as the nannies don't cut in - just rapid forward progress - such a difference!

I have had mine fitted , im now running eibach springs, adaptive dampers, mp performance LSD , Hankook 225.40.18 winter tyres on standard rims
Has lots more grip in these cold wet days than standard , you can use full power in the first 2 gears alot more , i recommend this even before running more power as you would just spin it away anyways

You all know I have an M-Performance LSD for sale in the classifieds, right? :D

Fitted at new, run in properly, 18k miles with paperwork to prove. I've taken the £700 hit and enjoyed every mile of it. You'd likely sell it for not far off what I'm asking when you're done too...

Fits: M135i/M235i auto & manual, M140i/M240i manual only
M135i more-door with added Drexler win.
