Farewell M140i

Post by KR15 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 3:01 pm

Today is a sad day as I said goodbye to my M140i after 2.5 years

Looking to free up some cash for the next house move so decided to sell the baby M and picked up a Leon Cupra on a bargain lease deal.

I sold the car direct to Sytner through their group buyer (Danny - very good guy to deal with) so if anyone's looking for an excellent condition, low mileage (16k) auto in EB with some nicely specced options then keep an eye out for the car popping up as an AUC (currently at Sheffield dealership) reg is YO16 YOW.

BCS Powervalve cat back exhaust now up for sale in the for sale section if anyone's after some snap, crackle and pop.
Current - BMW M140i, BCS Powervalve Cat Back
Prev - Focus ST-3 Mk3.5 :D

Sad you've had to part with it mate....but bricks & mortar come first. If the exhaust was off the 240i I'd be very tempted, I don't think it will fit there are some differences I believe? Im not too far away neither.

What was the lease deal you got just out of interest? Was it the cupra 290?

I'm pretty sure the fitment is different but might be worth dropping Nige at BCS a message to check.

Yeah its the new 290 (they were 300 prior to the new emissions regs last summer).
It was £230pm on a 6+23 for a stock car. They're pretty well specced as standard (virtual cockpit, adaptive dampers etc).

I've just gone the other way! Chopped my 2 yr old Leon Cupra 290 in for the M140i.

Very different cars but both very capable of keeping up with much more expensive metal.
Haven't a bad word to say about my Leon Cupra, it has been brilliant. I just needed to scratch the straight 6 itch before we're all driving milk floats, and the deals from BMW at the moment made it possible. Enjoy the Cupra.

Too much 😂

I sold it to Sytner for 19k. Could have got a bit more for a private sale but I had neither the time or inclination to do that.

Car originally cost £29k Inc options after a hefty TRL discount so ~10k loss.

I did buy it on PCP but switched to a lower rate Personal Loan a few months later. I broke even on my loan settlement.

Thats not too bad to be fair - I've had my 240 for 2 years now and I checked the market value against the settlement figure. We buy any car were offering just over 17k  Settlement figure is 20k  Every time I check the value its going down so I'm getting nowhere near any equity as even with chipping away at the settlement figure the value keeps dropping!!

Mine's even worse cos of my options list!!

My 240 will have cost me £41k in the end with interest etc. I bought it in October 2016 and it's worth about £23k last time I checked. £18k lost in 2 years and I've only done 15k miles as well. :spotman:

Wouldn't change a thing though, absolutely love it!! :P

Losing that kind of money makes me feel sick, I usually buy cars about 18 months old let someone else take the big hit
