So does anyone have any experience of GY eagle F1's and MP4S? The Good Years are significantly cheaper and I know are great tyres. What are the advantages of the MP4S' over the GY Eagle F1's?

The PS4 are awesome tyres. :)

I'd like to tell you that parenting gets easier but that would be untrue!! ;)
Cheers (on both points 8) )

For the benefit of some of the questions raised i have ordered the 92 Y rating all round which was the highest they seemed to offer
92Y is correct, BMW put those on my E91 last week.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but currently on my M140 I have MPSS 245/35 on the rear and 225/40 on the front.

I'm thinking about maybe putting Cup 2s on it in the summer but they don't seem to come in a 35 profile, smallest seems to be 40.

So my question is would it be an issue sticking 245/40s on the rear and 225/40 on the front?

Thanks in advance.

Cup2's do come in the correct sizes, see the Michelin website.

245/40 are too big, but you might could consider 235/40/18?

Oh do they, I tried looking on Black Circles and also on Tyre Savings and they didn't seem to come up in a 35 profile.

So even though it's currently got 245s on the rear it'll fit 235s on it? I'm not a tyre expert as you can probably guess.

Thanks.

245/35/18 are the best option, but not commonly available on Supermarket sites. Michelin will be able to advise who has/can get stock.

The outer edges of the fronts usually wear out first through understeer, bald as a billard ball.
M4 LCAs must help with that?

Yes, modified cars are fine.

wish I had done the same but stupidly went for 4 new MPSS last week...only to see that MPS4 were cheaper and Eagle F1 Ass3 were even further by around 30 quid cheaper per tyre on Camskills...and for the vast majority of time in the UK, both the MPS4 or F1 Ass3 are better than the MPSS in my opinion...

So as the OP I need to report back after 5 days on the new mps4

Many have already said in this thread but these are night and day different tyres and in my opinion much better.

Definately better turn in, better stability over 100 mph, grip in wet is massively better - I can actually put some power down now and the road noise reduction is probably the biggest difference I noted.

Not had any really cold temperatures yet to test but I would highly recommend these tyres!

The car just feels so different - as much as going from run craps to proper tyres!

Being from Sweden, it is both a bit amusing and somewhat strange to read this thread. Over here, you are required by law to have winter tires on from december to april whenever there is low temps and/or winter roads (or risk for any of the two = the entire winter). This also applies to southern Sweden.

It is also a known fact that summer tyres are worse than winter ones when the temperature goes below 7 degrees Celsius, i.e. to say that the MPSS is so-so, or even bad, in cold weather (or even worse, cold and damp) is to me like criticising a lorry for being slow on track.

To be clear, it is not my intention to sound rude. I perfectly understand that you do not have the same tradition of changing tyres every season, and that you in general do not have the same need for it. Hence why I find it more amusing than shocking, after all. :)

Cheers!

Absolut, I doubt anyone would take offence, your laws are extremely sensible really!

This shows how bad the MPSS' are in winter! Not a hugely scientific, but entertaining video that makes the point.

Absolut I agree totally about the cold and winter tyres are just not a habit most Brits are into doing and probably should. No offence taken but my biggest issue with MPSS was performance in the wet even when warm.

It must be amusing to read our numerous embarrassing sensationalist media websites in the U.K. who treat the arrival of a light dusting of snow like the arrival of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.....whilst countries such as yours just get on with it and it’s business as normal   Whilst a mandatory use of winter tyres would probably be a bit OTT for the U.K.....it would certainly solve the total carnage issues when the snow does come.
