New to this

Post by bfi2906 » Wed Sep 05, 2018 12:41 am

I've never tried "coding" a car before, so my apologies for the simplicity of my questions.

I have a 2018 M140 Auto - Is BimmerCode the best option to use?

I've had a look at BimmerCode in Demo mode, and from what I can see, there are a lot of changes that can be made in the "normal" mode, with the screens in English & easily understandable. But in "Expert" mode, it seems to be largely abbreviations / derivations of English, with German mixed in.

Is it the same in the actual app you buy? And if so, is there a "translation chart" somewhere, so the purpose of the settings can be understood?

Thanks in advance.

I would not use Bimmercode - it's a great idea but it can brick ECU's - I've had to repair many.

Loads of members use it but the fact there is no hard connection between phone & car there is always a danger the connection will drop.
Thanks for the reply.

If not BimmerCode, what do you recommend?

And, if it drops the connection, what happens? Most modern software will pick up at an auto-save point from Cache (or some other mechanism), when the connection is re-established.

What do you charge for a remote coding for just the headlight voltage check and what cable would be required for a bmw e88 ?

No appreciate that mate I know you don't was just saying that your labour charges were very fare but for a one off coding and required cable it works out fairly expensive but again as mentioned previously appreciate bmw labour rates are not cheap either !
