E87 battery replacement coding

Post by ewora »

I need to replace my battery, and so I need to code it. The car is a 2008 E87 116i (N43). I'm replacing the 80AH stock battery with an 80AH AGM unit. I was thinking about using ISTA D and P, but it turns out P is a no go, as I don't have the required tools. I heard about NCS expert. What is required to use NCS expert? I can download it from Bimmergeeks, but I don't know if I need anything else to get it working.

That would be impossible I think, as I’m located in Hungary.

Registration is done with INPA rather than NCSExpert, they come in the same package from Bimmergeeks. All you need is the K+DCAN cable to plug into the car. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube which will show it better than I can explain - just choose the E8x chassis then click your way through the same options.
