Bimmercode for cruise control.

Post by StuM84 »

Hello,

Can the Bimmercode app be used to code retro fitted cruise control on a 2017 116d auto?

Thanks.

Hello, no Bimmercode is useless for retrofits
You need to use E-SYS

It can be used.

Esys is better though, as bimmercode will most likely be gone after the dealer updates software on your car.

Where is the Cruise Control retrofit/activation menu in Bimmercode?

It's not straightforward in Bimmercode, there isn't a "retrofit" option as such, instead it's a case of changing a number of coding settings. I've never tried it because I already have cruise control fitted but in theory it should be doable.

Also interested in this! I've got the buttons on my steering wheel, only need to code now. I've been having a hard time running the Token Generator for the Esys, so would appreciate a bimmercode solution.

You can use esys without the launcher for vo coding cruise control.launcher is only required for fdl coding.

I don't think you can edit the Vehicle Order using Bimmercode, even in expert mode can you (it will let you view the VO tree, but not edit)? All expert mode seems to do is show you the actual code values on the FDL tree, rather then giving you a simplified UI. The VO is what you need to alter to retrofit cruise control, and then apply the modified data to the application control modules.

All that Bimmercode let's you do is change the value of individual FDL elements as has been said above; you don't need to change these to retrofit CC, so unless there's an area of Bimmercode I haven't found, you can't use it to add CC.

ESYS is free to downland and will let you alter the VO without the paid launcher.
