F20 116d 2014 Complete beginner needs help

Post by Kierownik » Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:09 am

Hi there,
As I've never owned a BMW before this entire coding thing is completely new for me. Therefore I need some help.

I'm hesitating between buying an esys cable or carly module.
What I need it for is 2 main things:
1) to program my start/stop system so it remembers the last setting.
2) to be able to manually trigger the dpf regeneration

Which one should I buy?
To be honest I'd prefer to go the esys way as it's a lot cheaper, I think. But then carly seems to be a lot easier to use.

If i get esys how complicated is it to do the above operations?

I'll be very grateful for any advice.
Thank you

Add your car details to your signature as it saves you forgetting to mention it and folks having to ask for it :)

Esys is more complicated to use but ultimately more powerful than Carly. I don't trust the Wi-Fi dongles as I have seen a few bricked ECU's after they have been coded with Bimmercode or Carly.

Wow, thank you very very much, i think this will help me to understand the EZPLC.
IВґll try to work with it at the weekend. The whole process is a bit more complicated but to complicated to explain it here in one post. IВґll try and hope to succeed, thanks a lot
