M2 on the Marlow to Bicester run

Post by robsta555 » Sun Mar 25, 2018 6:17 pm

I finally managed to get the M2 out on to some driving roads today. A group of us did a route we found from a Pistonheads post. https://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph ... ster/28024

It was I bit damp but enjoyable none the less and the roads were very clear at 7am. The MPSS felt better in the wet on my M2 than they ever did in my previous M135i.

The next blast will be 21st/22nd of April if anyone is interested? Route to be confirmed, but will be somewhere in the South. Although, it might be a weekend trip to the black mountains if the weather is good

If anyone has any route suggestions, then please post them.

Thanks
Rob

Looks like a nice route, some real good drivers cars there too

I’d be up for your next trip in April. Been out this afternoon round some quiet Northamptonshire roads, it’s been warm here so finally got some dry roads, can’t believe how good the traction is in these M2’s with better weather.

Had it in sports+ on a good road for first time in the dry, wow I think it’s the first time I’ve ever had everything I wanted in a road car

I'm still per RIS so I was being sensible with revs and the use of the diff. The M2 has so much more potential than my ability.

I'll keep you posted on the next trip.

Even the contis on my m2 feel far better than the mpss on my m135i particularly in the wet.

On a trip last year I had a friend in an M3 with contis and another in an M4 with ps4's and there seemed to be nothing in them in the dry. I think the MPSS in the warm and dry are probably a fraction better.
I ended up switching to Dunlop Sport Maxx on my previous M135i which I felt were better suited to UK conditions.

I think the M2 is just better setup with its wider tyres etc than my standard M135i was. I do miss the ZF gearbox though. The DCT is a bit clunky around town.

That Bicester to Thame road is wicked in a car or on a bike.

Just bumping this. I live in bourne end just down the road from Marlow and am about to take delivery of my M2.

This is my favourite drive to do locally.

If you're ever doing it again let me know and I'll come along!

Shame I didn't see this earlier as could have combined the early morning blast down via A3 to Devil's Punch Bowl via Hindhead Tunnel to demo MPE track mode for a fellow M2 owner !!!

Perhaps post up the next planned run in UK section of forum

I know it's a long shot on such short notice for most folks. It's not often I get a free Saturday morning so gonna stretch the M2's legs.
