Yesterday it rained but I manage to at least get the tyres mounted on the wheels, I wanted to fit them onto the car myself so I could clean off my coilovers at the same time, so I wasn't able to get them on the car on Saturday due to the rain. Big thank you to Southall Discount Tyres for fitting the tyres, great service and price! Managed to get them mounted on the car today though and cleaned my coilovers too :):

Previous setup pictures first, Ispiri CSR4: ET35 8" front (205/35/18) and ET38 9" rear (215/40/18).

Hi buddy first off all thanks so much for sharing your pictures with us and secondly wheels are looking great !! 8)

1/ any scrubbing / rubbing with / without passengers ?
2/ hard to tell from picture but is that a fair bit off stretch on the tyre ?

are there any tyre sizes that would not require a stretch ? to be honest just feel they are too exposed and knowing my luck I would have them damaged straight away !!

No rubbing with just me in the car, I barely take passengers in my car anyway, if I do it's usually just one in the front with me. My Ispiri's didn't rub with 3 people in the car and I don't think these would either. I guess I'll find out on the drive to work tomorrow as I drive across a lot of bumpy roads!

There is more stretch on these than on my Ispiri's I wouldn't go for any smaller than a 215 on a 9.5. On a 9.5 you should run 245's if I'm not mistaken for zero stretch.

If you want (or anyone really) wants other type of pictures, let me know and I'll do my best :).

I see the Zito 935 alloys are available in ET45 front and rear . the guy that runs VMR wheels over on 1addicts has suggested the following ideal set up for 18" alloys on the 1 series - 18x8.5 ET45 in the front with a 225/40/18 and 18x9.5 ET45 in the rear with a 245-255/35/18 tire.
any comments on the above ?
anyone else ready to order ?

Update : okay spoke to the ever so helpful mark down at Bmautosports tonight who advises me that running with an et45 on the front may hit the suspension so will stick with the et35 front , rear he thinks the 255 tyre will cause arch problems which I defffinatly don't want and the 245 tyre will have a little stretch which again I just don't want, what now ?? :?

245 will have the tiniest bit of stretch ever. Is there any reason why you don't want stretch?

To be honest just feel too much stretch just looks wrong and would be so worried the front rim would be looking for the first kerb to make contact with plus the fact regards possible mot issues with regards stretched tyres !!

Take it when you say a 245 will have the tiniest stretch ever I take it this will be just the tyre itself stretched and the actual rim won't be too exposed ?

Sorry to possibly be going over old ground again ?! But what tyre do I need on an 8.5" front so as to not have any stretch ?

Going to order up today with mark.

Okay sorry being a complete numpty just all so confusing  so the front 8.5" I can get away with a 225 / 235 or a 245 Yep, as I say just don't want any arch rubbing or stretch or minimal stretch on the front .

It gets even more complicated as not all tyres are exactly equal dimensions even though they are the same size

MOT and stretch is where you can see the beads, now with my Ispiri's I don't think I'll have a problem and the tires are stretched but there's slight stretch. My fronts on the Zito's I think will be fine, but the rears I am a bit worried because there is more stretch but the beads don't show.

Yes, when you hit a kerb there is no protection and the rim will take the brunt as opposed to the rim protector.

Yes, the actual tyre will be stretched, more stretch means more of the rim being exposed. Have a look on tyrestretch.com for various examples or look at my pictures, you'll see the difference in stretch between the 9 and 9.5. Both have the same tyre size and profile. The 8 and 8.5 has different profiles.

225 on a 8.5 and 245 on a 9.5 for little to no stretch.

Hope that helps.

https://mattersoftesting.blog.gov.uk/st ... t-failure/.

That's the law on stretch/MOT. I am not worried about my Ispiri's or the fronts of my Zito's but I have a slight worry with the rears of the Zito's. I think I should be okay but I always get the same come MOT time   . I got worried about failing MOT when I put LED sidelights in on my first car    .

Uniroyals are good tyres :).

I rate the Uniroyal RS3's very highly, been running them for years and the grip in the wet is incredible. Fairly average in terms of life span but the confidence they give you can't be beaten :)
