JB4 Map 6 with BW Chiptune (Dyno graph added)

Post by Matt b » Sat Mar 18, 2017 2:59 pm

Quick review on my afternoon with the guys!

Net result a very happy boy.

2013 M135i with EWG
Mods: JB4 with EWG and FF harness and a catless DP.
Standard ran: 330/360
Map 2 ran: 391/440
Map 6 ran: 417/485

Jason and his team were brilliant, honestly Jason was like a dog with a bone trying to get the best out of the car he must have spent at least 2 hours on it, not giving up until be was happy.

His two sons were brilliant, very knowledgeable and genuinely interested in the customer experience which for me really soon out compared to other tuners iv used over the years.

Not had much chance to really try it out yet but initial thoughts the map feels very smooth, nice and progressive.
2nd might need a touch of boost limiting as easy to spin up on WOT but my tires were not a warm as they could be so let's see.

Will post back more thoughts soon.

Anyone looking as JB4 or custom remap should give these guys a try!

Very good results and another positive review.

What down pipe are you running?

Did they fit your downpipe or jb4 or just the custom map?

Hi,

4" Richter downpipe.

They just did the custom map 6, I did the JB4 and DP myself.

Ok thanks for the info. Just looked and the decay obviously isn't mot compatible. Would similar figures be achievable with a sports cat.

Also how much was the custom map/ setup. Pm if you prefer

Yes running latest firmware with OBDII.

As for Catless vs Sports cat I would imagine the catless will pull very marginally more power.

With regards to cost, drop Jason a PM or give him a call - it's cheap ( well I think it is )

Cheers

Matt

Yr dyno shows why absolute map 6 beats additive map 2 at the top end.

Map 2 shape drops down much sooner than map 6 which stays flatter for longer. No doubt DME pulling boost and timing at the top end on map 2.

That's nuts, is the engine alright to handle that sort of power as stock? Or just good as a little burst in map 6?

Fair question - I've been running similar levels of JB4 boost/power/torque for 2.5yrs - touches wood - without issue.

Damn impressive engine, was worried about pushing the power up, if the clutch starts slipping or anything!

I have run a good number of modified cars to various states of tune over the years. Key is to really keep on top of the maintenance and care really. Yes the clutch life will be reduced and other parts might wear quicker but that's the balance.

I won't run Map 6 all the time either, will switch between map 2. I do need to address a few things too, like LSD and maybe a few chassis mods but in general it's a nice set up.

Good to know know you have been running this kind of power for a while BP.
