Two things that really attracted me to the BMW M135i I have now over so many other hot hatches and fast cars was that it was/is a turbo charged 6 cylinder RWD.

I can't think of any other hot hatch which offers that. :?
The practicality this car affords me over other cars even in BMW's own range was also another reason I went for it. I think they're making a mistake changing a formula that works but who knows.

They are changing it because the general public like FWD and it creates extra space in the car which the old rwd 1 series has always lacked. BMW is a premium mass market brand not a niche drivers car like it used to be.

They clearly need to sell more of them, and appeal to a wider demographic, I would’ve thought they lose a lot of interest from nowadays drivers because of the RWD, when you compare how many Golfs, Audi’s and Merc’s you see daily compared to the 135’s and 140’s, let’s face it the engine as we know it will be phased out eventually and we will all be driving Duracell powered motors in the future
