Of course the 911 is the car everybody would choose out of the two
I wouldn't ;)

Seriously though, if I wanted one I'd go and get one, but Porsche doesn't do it for me. Have never really liked them to be honest and don't see the attraction, but that's just me of course.

Maybe it's because I'm not the type of person that likes to draw attention, so I wouldn't like a 'supercar' etc which is why I like cars like the M140i so much. Great performance in a bit of a 'sleeper' style car that I can also get the dog and a load of luggage in.

I get where you're coming from, maybe worded differently but as a gift for example I think everybody would take the Porsche.

My money wouldn't be going there however as you say. Doesn't tick enough boxes in the price range for me.

...That sounds just like me (but I have no dog). Super happy with what we have. :-)

Well in that case, yeah I'd take the Porsche, sell it and buy a M140i and go on holiday with the extra cash left over ;)

My buddy just bought a 2011 385hp 911 Carrera 4S with pdk.
It's in great condition and has only done about 20,000 miles. My M140 is stock rwd on MPS4 tires.
We have done a few pulls from standstill and rolling starts on B roads with smooth but old and not very grippy asphalt. So I am quite surprised that I have managed to pull away from him every time, considering he has 4wd, 305mm rears and a bit more power. The two cars weigh about the same so I guess it's down to more torque in the M140.
Love this car even more now :)

Good effort lad! Quick cars these mlites. Everyone else is looking far too much into this

Got to love the comments about, might be quicker in a straight line but wait until you get to a track, as if youd pull off the m4 and go find a race track to settle the score. Its all about having fun in these cars, unless you know anything about them they look nothing, modern sleeper, a 30k car upsetting a supercar nothing better IMO. Plus look at the 100-200km/h times some 1/240s are doing easily go up against a 911

Calling a non-GT porsche a "supercar" is stretching the label a bit. Straight line acceleration is also a 1-dimensional evaluation of a car. Power, weight, and maybe traction (if we're talking from a start), and you more or less have the formula.

The formula to building a car with good dynamics is much more complex. You don't need to drive at 10/10th to perceive good steering feel, controlled chassis, balanced weight distribution, etc.

If it was just about 0-whatever speed, the M2 wouldnt have a raison d'etre. Atleast not with a turbocharged F2x car in production.

But the whole point is the Mlite isn't really fun unless you call slip road races fun.

A 'fun' car gives excellent feedback, inspires confidence and makes you feel like a driving god at any speed and that is where in stock form the mlite fails.
Now - E92 M3, DCT, Comp Pack, Alpine White.

Gone - 2016 M135i

I had some repeated pulls against my mates 2015 AM Vantage v8, up to three figures nothing in it and maybe slightly ahead but above that level, the shoe is on the other foot and he was gone. Power vs torque vs aerodynamics.

Got an early 991 C2S & the 140, both very capable cars, 140 is easier to drive quickly up to a certain point, has more torque than the 911, once you work the 911 on an open road it’s a different story, also handling is in another league, even with my lack of driving talent :D
Agree 140 is a great all rounder & terrific value

I can easily believe what the original poster has said.

I've currently got a Gen2 997 C4S, I used to have a 996 GT2, but values made it so I didn't enjoy using it anymore, beside the point.

Anyway, my M140i with tuning box feels a fair bit quicker than the Porsche and probably not a million miles off the GT2 pace.

Dynamically, there is no comparison though.
