Hi guys,
Just a quick question, does anyone know if I can straight install a pair of facelift rear lights on a Pre-facelift E87, without changing the wires or codes?
Depends on which lights you install, and how you want them to look. As marco_polo said, the wiring is a matter of "rewiring" the connectors. This will give you facelift rear lights with running lights in the upper and lower panels, just as the pre-FL lights, but with the new look of the facelift cars without xenons. It should be noted that at this stage you get the same result with both the LED and the non-LED versions of the facelift rear lights.
If you want to have the looks of the facelift cars with xenons, you will have to get the LED rear lights, and connect an extra wire to each side (12V) and get the coding done. (Actually, you don't have to do the coding, but not doing it will give you running lights in three panels on each side. Nice if you love christmas trees.

)
Last time I checked, the LED and non-LED versions of the (OEM) rear lights cost about the same, so even if you don't want the LED look at this point, you should buy the LED lights. Just in case you change your mind regarding the LED look, or you want to sell them later (I think the LED lights will be easier to sell.)
Here's the LED version rear lights with rewired connectors and 12V wires to the LEDs before coding:
