Surely its either nicked, or a loan car or something?

If not, they would go straight to the owners address. Why else would they appeal for help in identifying the driver?

Must have been going some to cause that damage, poor cyclist didnt have a chance. Sad day.

You'd only leg it after killing someone in a car if it wasn't yours, and no-one knew you were in it (i.e. stolen). Mind you, some people are extremely stupid.

Scum and a well known area for car crime unfortunately. This should never happen a very sad event.

The area where the rider hit the car. Jesus. That was some impact. That poor cyclist.

Exactly.

The owner would be easy to track down.

It could very well be hired. That is quite common around the eid celebration. If the hirer gave genuine details then they can be tracked down but otherwise...

Tragic, feel for the cyclist’s family and friends too, going about your business and not coming back home

Because it is pretty common round these parts for young people to celebrate Eid by hiring a car for a few days for a play. It can often end badly if it is a high performance car as kids of any flavour can be known to drive beyond their ability. Feel free to huff and puff and read something into my comment that isn't there.
