F20 Alloy Suggestions

Post by Connor99z » Thu Sep 12, 2019 1:36 am

Hello guys just a quick question.

I currently have a BMW 1 Series 116D EfficiencyDynamics 2014, and the alloys are the standard 16 inch I’m pretty sure, I was wondering is it possible to get bigger alloys such as 17/18inch? And what alloys would you recommend for a 1 Series? I find the Alloys on the ED 1 Series very plain and changing them up would make the car stand out a lot more! I do like the M sport alloys but I’m not sure if they would fit and if I would be called out for having M sport alloys on an ordinary model 1 Series, also where would I go to get the alloys.

Thank you!

You'll need to go lower profile to keep the rolling circumference the same other wise it will throw your speedo calibration out of the window. So budget for new rubber too.

What do you mean by that, sorry I’m new to all this stuff and didn’t know where else to ask other than this forum.

i.e budget for tyres as well.

Check out tyres section, and look up gallery for 1 series. Plenty of inspiration in there. Shouldn't have too much issue providing you get the correct sizes and profiles for your car.

Though this day and age having your car "stand out" isn't something out look to do.

I'd go for something like these:https://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/ ... 51_154_123

OEM so reasonably insurance friendly, straight fit, and they'd probably take your old wheels as part exchange.

The 16” tyres would be a bit of a tight fit on 17” rims so defo budget for new tyres :D :D

OP, look at the sticker inside the drivers door shut. It should have approved wheel size & tyre combos that will work with your car.

You could keep your 16’s and fit winter rubber to them.

Below is slightly different as there is no change to wheel size, just getting my 2p in :)

You can usually go up a little on the tyre circumference. On my Nissan Qashqai I have gone from 225/45/19 to 225/50/19. I have compared the speedo with GPS and its now exactly the same. I prefer the accuracy this gives instead of adding about 3mph to your current speed to get to the maximum road legal speed. i.e. Car speedo's usually display about 3mph below the true speed.

OP has said he fancy's going 17/18 inch from 16 !!! Yes you've changed your tyre profile but both tyres sizes are 19 inch.

I have a set of 18 inch m sport wheels i’m looking to sell on my car. They are from the facelift 2015 1 series painted in black and in good condition.

I’m looking for around £400 for them.

They should fit perfectly on your car
