Best cleaning product for sapphire black?

Post by Twenny »

It’s a bloody minefield once you start talking about clay bars and rotary/DA polishers and such like so I’d leave well alone.

Knowing you as well as I do Chris I would follow Marco Polos simple advice and stick with - 2 bucket wash/dry/black hole/BSD

The black hole I would apply every 3 months and then just wash/dry/BSD in between.

You will need -

2 buckets with grit guards
2 wash mitts ( one for body one for wheels)
20 micro fibre cloths for polishing and drying
2 large drying micro fibre cloths
1 bottle Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner or valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner (more per litre and cheaper)
1 large bottle of Car wash - loads to choose from but nothing too fancy.
1 bottle Poor boys black hole
1 bottle of sonax brilliant shine detailer (BSD)
1 bottle of meguirs clear glass cleaner or EZ Clarity 2.0

Owning a black car can be a pleasure and a curse. But mainly a curse lol

And then of course there’s the inside of the car which is another subject all by itself!!!

Here is the order I do things in for a full detail Chris:

Rinse with jetwash
Apply snow foam
Spray wheels with fallout remover
Agitate fallout with wheel brush and rinse
Rinse car with jetwash
Shampoo car with Ph neutral shampoo
Rinse with jetwash
Dry car with xl drying towel
Clay bar using clay lube
Shampoo car
Rinse car
Dry car
D/A 2-stage polish
1st with Meguiars Ultimate Compound on microfibre pad to remove swirls and light scratches
2nd with Meguiars Ultimate Polish on soft foam pad
Poorboys Black Hole glaze applied and buffed off
2 coats of my favourite ’Waxaddict’ wax
Finish off with Sonax BSD

If just doing a maintenance wash then I skip the clay bar, d/a polish and Black Hole but I always use Sonax BSD as it helps prevent water marking which is a pita on Black cars...

A few pics (not all from the same detailing session though):

Yeah had the M3 ceramic coated.

So now it’s just a 2 bucket wash and BSD. Job done.

I bought some Sonax based in the reviews on here and am impressed with it.

Bear in mind that my other half’s car is now 13 years old and her parents did sweet FA in terms of cleaning it. Over the glaze and Dodo Juice Supernatural that was applied a few weeks ago, there’s a really good depth of colour.
